Jesus returned home to Nazareth to proclaim the good news to the people whom had raised him. He spoke at the synagogue at the sabbath and proclaimed the scripture passage he had read had been fulfilled in their hearing. They were awed at what they heard, but wanted proof. When they did not get what they wanted, they threw Jesus out of town head first.
This passage brings up several stories I have heard and witnessed in my life time. Family members whom have not followed the law (expectations) of the family have been tossed out, rejected, disowned and outcast.
The pain of such rejection is almost unbearable. At our core, we are connected to all people but our families have a special bond that seem to go deeper. They are our beginnings. Oprah, recently had a show about adopted children who were reconnected with their biological parents.
The show brought tears to my eyes. I wept. The thrill of coming together, seemed to complete their lives. Yes, there was pain, questions, heartache, but the simple knowing that they had been looked for, missed, and loved, brought about a sense of inner peace. The co-host, mentioned, "People can not find peace, until they fill the missing pieces in their lives."
Jesus must have felt this painful heart pain, as he was rejected by those who gave him earthly life. However, he filled his hole with the beautiful, loving presence of God, the Creator of All life.
When we can release the earthly ties which bind us to this world, and set our focus on God and allow the Spirit of God to enfold us, this gives us peace. This truly is the Piece which is missing.
Claim this piece, and experience peace.
